i really need help or advice i just did my first transmission change in my 1993 f150 i ordered a e4od had it shipped to my house and put it in my 1993 f150 with a 351w i started the truck and put it in reverse and went back 15 feet then i put it in drive and let off the brake and was still being propelled in reverse i tried this and it was the same for all gears even neutral and in park you can tell it wants to keep going backwards and the motor will not rev over 2500 rpm in park please any suggestions are a huge help i’m trying to get my truck back on the road before it gets way to cold to work on it outside thank you.
So are you sure the shift linkage is connected to the transmission correctly? (I added this after I wrote the other stuff) **Go under the truck with the parking brake on, engine off, and not on a hill, have someone shift it through the gears and watch to see if it is moving the transmission shift arm. ** I would start by jacking up the rear end of the vehicle, remove the shifter linkage that goes to the truck from the transmission lever, and then manually move that transmission lever to park and then turn the drive shaft (parking brake off) and see if it goes into park. If so reconnect the linkage and test the shifter in the cab moving to park and make sure it goes into park. The problem could be the shift linkage or in the steering column, or in the transmission. Who did you order the transmission from? Let me know what you found out.
Sounds like to me like the internal linkage is not connected to the manual valve on the valve body.
You will have to remove the pan and either loosen the valve body section to index the valve or loosen the linkage to index the valve. Removing the little roll pin and working the valve back on the linkage should be the easiest way to do this.

okay i will try this when i get home from school the only thought i might have is that the truck dose stop moving in park it just feels like it wants to keep going backwards then stops is that also a symptom of the internal linkage not being connected to the valve body?
And that is where I was heading with my testing deal. Again where did you get the transmission from? If they messed that up I'm sure there is much more that could be messed up as well.
Check the simple things first before having to drain fluid and deal with all that mess with the pan etc.
Wow gotta love that machined finish on that manual valve land where the linkage pin engages, and the one below it.
