Zoodad, you said: "The latest version is 3.4.21194 and maps NA20"
Where do you get that info?
What I see after my update is Build 20204.
So, maybe 3.20.204?????

You will have to perform a 3.0 to 3.4 upgrade to get to 3.4.21194

i use CyanLabs tool. It’s easy and works well

First of all, it's OK to have more than one thought in a single post. You don't need to post 4 separate times for 4 independent thoughts. One post will work fine.

Second, don't conflate 3.0 with 3.4. I know that you're not the one who introduced this, but the earlier post about 3.4 was made before you disclosed your version number. Whenever speaking about anything computer-related, from SYNC, to iOS, to Windows, to whatever, it's absolutely critical that you always include version number. You eventually did and, because of that, were able to proceed. However, not before the confusing 3.4 bit was added.

You can research more, but 3.4 has a different look and feel than 3.0, but is still compatible with the hardware in your truck. However, Ford offers no upgrade path between 3.0 and 3.4. If you want to do that, then you'll need to do that on your own using CyanLabs or something similar. If you want to know more, then there are about a zillion threads here and elsewhere, in addition to YouTube how-to videos. I've never felt the need to upgrade to 3.4. Many of the improvements are related to CarPlay, which I don't use. YMMV.

Finally, you (like me) discovered that when your truck told you, "Nah, you're all up to date; nothing to be done here," it was a lie. By going online, you discovered the most current build of 3.0 and it sounds like you were able to upgrade. After that, you can add the NA 2 20 mapset. You can actually find lots and lots of people (me included) who report the same: I tried to update maps, the SYNC system gave me a compatibility error, but my truck's SYNC system (after checking online through the head unit) tells me that there are no updates to be done. Very common problem and it's due to the head unit/SYNC telling vicious, bald-faced lies ... there is an update that exists and needs to be done. Glad you found it.

I hope you were able to upgrade. For me, going from NA 18 to NA 19 was a complete game-changer. NA 18 was so poor as to render my navigation system almost useless and I couldn't ever trust it. Going to NA 19 fixed everything. Going to NA 20 hasn't been that impressive. A few additional roads were added, but nothing dramatic. For you, going from NA 16 to NA 20 should be a great move.

Thanks!!!! Very helpful. I was totally unaware of 3.0 vs. 3.4. I did some brief investigation, and I don't see a reason for me to move to 3.4. If someone wants to tell me some key benefits of 3.4, I will certainly listen.
Update on my process. I did the update from Ford, as I reported earlier. Seemed to be OK. Then I tried the map update, but I forgot to uncheck the engine auto off. So the truck stopped in the middle. Tried to restart and got an error.
Right now I am redoing the Ford update. I will then try the map update again.
More to come!
