awesome, thanks so much. Thinking about getting this when my truck gets in (in a year at this rate). Do you use your own SD card? See it comes with 16gb on Amazon, but would like something bigger just incase
nothing special, a Samsung High endurance, I believe 32gb. I think the DR900S-2CH has been replaced by a new model, I don't use any remote, battery backup, cellular, or cloud services but they are built in (some are subscription based). If something strange happens on the road, I note the time, connect to the cameras 5g wifi, download the raw clip to my phone. Its physical design makes it easy to hide totally out of site 'behind' the mirror, visible only to the passenger side really. A polarized filter was helpful to reduce the glare off the dashboard.
Sorry, I didn't know it was a Chinese National Holiday when I posted the link.
Unfortunately, the top Big name brands such as Blackvue and Thinkware are also Asian-made. They also cost 3 times as much, which factored into my purchase. The Viofo A139 3ch was a good bargain compared to the prices of other manufacturers in an apples to apples comparison..
I did some manufacturer investigating and so far I have yet to come up with an American manufactured dash-cam.
Blackvue (Singapore)
Thinkware (South Korea)
iRoad (S. Korea)
Crosstour (China)
Nexar (China)
Garmin (Taiwan)
Rove (China)
Vantrue (China)
Here is a footage sample from the A139 Front camera.
I got my Garmin Mini 2 yesterday and mounted it up. Very small unit. I havent driven with it yet to see the picture quality. It does have a tough time staying in live view mode as Apple CarPlay wants to take over after a few seconds. I am not sure if this is a Garmin thing or a Sync4 thing. In order to set up the angle of the camera I ended up having to turn off CarPlay just to be able to stay connected long enough. Very annoying.
The mini 2 looks like a really cool camera, post up some pictures how you mounted it up
I can imagine fighting over wifi signals would be frustrating but once its all dialed it hopefully its set and forget.
Bulldog, that is a freakin great picture and may have swung my decision. Is the recording screen a distraction driving at night or is there a way to 'black out" the screen at night but still be able to record, if that makes sense? I'm personally not a fan of bright lights, even the dash lights, while driving at night.

thank you for the detailed research and report you have given us Abulldog.
i have been researching also and so far have looked up info on:
Blackvue (Singapore) Thinkware (South Korea) Garmin (Taiwan)
and have found the same.
i really like everything I have read about the A139 Front camera you chose. They are a lot of money and I’ll keep researching for a little while yet. I want to have the order in when my truck hits the production line which just a couple weeks out. (I am uncontrollably excited at times when I realize how close I am getting to picking up my truck. I started my research on buying my truck just over two years ago. I’m glad Covid showed me down. I am glad to be ordering my first Ford Super Duty instead of taking one of the lot 😊 The whole experience in this purchase is now part of my truck and I won’t want to give it up for anything. 😉
thank you for the video too. That is very helpful.

There is no screen on the camera. Live view is through the app on the phone.
