Who uses a dash cam and what one do you use? After getting my truck totaled and having no evidence of exactly what happened I plan on putting one in my truck when it gets here or I should say if it ever gets here at this point!

. This is a great question.
I am buying my first truck in my life and I thought about a dash or forward and backward set of cams for the same reason. Trucks nowadays are a lot of money like a house and require a certain level of responsibility.
I think security cams are first line accessories. Thank you
Have a Blackvue DR900S. Ive never have to fuss with it after the install. I like having the rear camera too. I wired it by using posi taps to wires in the overhead console, very easy install.
A couple of things to consider when it comes to a dash cam.
1. Don’t get one that uses a lithium battery. The heat causes them to swell and fail. Get one that uses a capacitor.
2. Don’t cheap out on the microSD card. Cheap cards don’t hold up well to the constant rewriting of the video.
3. Pull the SD card monthly and check the videos. Even the better cards still fail.
I have the Viofo A129 with both front and rear cameras. Will be hooking it up to the upfitter switches on the new truck very soon. I've gotten some crazy footage from it over the last couple of years in my old truck. Don't have any pictures to show it mounted.

Cant see it from the drivers seat.
B-737 That was one quick response. Thank you and I’m going to go check it out now.

I have used the Viofo cameras in two other cars for a few years, they are really hassle free.
I use this one from Amazon. Has forward and rear facing camera. Resolution is so good that it shows the bi*ch who rear ended me was reading a magazine before impact. Even the trooper at the scene was impressed with the video quality.
even if the power outlet is off in the truck, there is a G sensor in the camera. if theres a certain amount of impact to the vehicle the camera will record for 30 seconds.
if you happen to be driving down the road and get into an accident the camera will automatically store the impact in it’s emergency file on your SD card. So even though your camera may still be running if for some reason power is not disconnected this file does not get over written by new video.
Zoom in and you’ll see the magazine she’s reading.
I've had several. So far the Rove I put in the wife's car has been my favorite followed by the Transcend that's currently in my truck.
I have a Nexar that I used for a while and hated. It sits in my office collecting dust and I'll likely never use it again. I found it a pain in the *** to use. It recorded when I didn't want it to and it didn't seem easy to look for a particular clip to view. It let the cell phone or the motion of the cell phone determine when it came on and recorded as well as recording directly to the phone instead of just to an SD card. If I remember correctly it recorded in entire "drive" segments instead of 3 or 5 minute chunks that you could approximate and narrow down your search to if you wanted to view a particular segment. It just didn't make things simple.

Thank you Frank79
I like this one and looked just now at the A139. I like that one too!
I have Viofo A129s in both my kids trucks. While they have been good, the app interface is horrific. Having been pulled in front of back in 17 and then having my 21 t boned, I have the Garmin mini 2 on order for me. Their app is much better.
I put the Rove R2-4K in my truck recently. It worked great on my 4,000 mile trip. Very clear video and I like being able to click a button to save a clip when something interesting happens.
I recommend those dam cam mirrors that strap on the existing rear view mirror. They are very stealth and get out of the way. These days they have the 12” version which is huge and can easily see kids etc on the back seats.
