RacinJasonWV has some very good advice and the next steps I would recommend for you.
I sometimes forget NS needs a full key/ignition cycle before the truck will start. I was once told not to put a no start tune in the first position (00) as well because if there is a loss of power I believe the Hydra goes to the first position as the default.
Will try it, thank you.
Heck, I don’t remember what all has gone on over the MONTHS either! I’ve learned a TON, but every time I see light at the end of the tunnel, it moves back!
I also found this sequence for when the theft light is flashing before I pull the hydra out again. I didn’t realize it was on nS, as that isn’t even a tune I have loaded. I don’t know if it got set like that from when the pcm, idm and chip were getting looked at.
THEFT LIGHT (on Excursions) - If the theft light flashes rapidly and the vehicle won't start, the Passive Anti-theft system (PATS) will need to be reset. To reset the PATS, perform the following steps:
Turn the key on, but do not attempt to start the vehicle.
Wait for the theft light to quit flashing rapidly. This should take about 45 seconds, after which the THEFT light will flash multiple times about every 3 seconds.
Turn the key off and remove the keyfrom the ignition for 30 seconds.
Insert the key and turn the ignition to the ON position.
The THEFT light should illuminate for about 5 seconds and then go out.
I think the PATS issue was low batteries. Left it on the charger overnight and it started up fine and held it. Looked like all the injectors were squirting oil.
Buttoned anything up to try to get some miles on the injectors, and when I went to go pull away it fell on its face again and the accelerator pedal does nothing.
Will low batteries or an alternator or both cause the stumbling issue and non-drivability? I was surprised to see the batteries at 12.4v after only a week unplugged, and that was after they had been on the battery charger and fully charged before.
How does your parasitic battery draw look? Should be less than 50mA, depending on the sleep mode of the electronics on your rig. Mine is about 18mA when I checked last.
I’ll check the draw, thank you! @Bitterroot Diesel , you mean CPS? I have a spare but I honestly don’t know the symptoms of a bad or going bad cps other than no start
In standard nomenclature for our trucks, that would be the Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor. A TPS is typically found on a gasoline engine's throttle body to measure the position of the throttle butterfly.
It’s running! And drivable. Replacing the injector harnesses with a set of international labeled ones seemed to help, as well as replacing the connector and wires going to the valve cover from the engine harness.
lots of lessons learned, one is to always check wire integrity. What led me to peel away the plastic tubing and tape covering the wires going to the valve cover connector was what dieselchat started with the idm will shut off injectors after a couple seconds to protect itself if it senses something off. That’s what led me to the wires. That and the idm testing procedure posted on this site.
I’ll take a video at some point. It pulls hard. Little slow off idle but I’ll see if the tuner can work that out. Once it spools around 1200rpm or so you can hear the turbo starting to sing the song of its people and the truck moves hard.
The over head creeper saved me. I don’t know if I could have continued with my terrible back if it wasn’t for that. That’s also why this took me pressing over a month to just get to starting to crank it.
Do I need to change oil immediately Asher found the injector swap or give it some miles first?
A turbo "singing the song of it's people" is a wonderful thing to hear. Matthew at BDP is an attending injector expert here on the FTE and I would follow his advice.
Great news! Now you're finally able to enjoy all your hard work.
I had to check out the first post to see what setup you went with. (Time to update your signature hint hint)
I see the Bitterroot 160/0 paired with a 363. Assuming that’s the small turbine version? Anxious to hear a detailed impressions post after you get some good seat time in. Hope it works out well for you.
Also, if you have some time maybe share your info in the Turbo Matrix thread. We have been compiling impressions of lots of setups to help folks pick their best setup on the first try.
Changed the oil with Rotella T6 5w40. I will FOR SURE add inputs into the turbo matrix. Your posts @RacinJasonWV@Sous were what really got me looking at doing the t4 tour route instead of drop ins.
Another LL is I tried to do too much all at once. I guess I don’t know how I would have broken it up though. Going in for the plenums, had to get all the way in there anyways

You sound like every other member on here!
We look forward to only hearing good things regarding all your hard work from here on out! So glad you got it squared away.
Thanks for the willingness to share your experiences with others on the turbo matrix.
