Greetings all. I believe I have a slightly different issue I am wanting some input on. I have a 76 F100 4X4 360. My original plan was to take it all the way down to the frame (Completed that), and over time rebuild it from the ground up. After many hours of thought I realize that I have too much going on over the next 5 plus years and do not want all these parts laying around and getting ruined. I am willing to let the whole truck go for a great price and in exchange the buyer needs to take the whole package. My question is what source or avenue do you believe would be the best way to go about in selling the rig? Regards. Todd
Hi Todd,
So unless I missed understood the truck is in pieces. That will definitely narrow the the window of opertunity for being able to find a buyer.
The market place here on this forum seems like a good spot to start. Also I post like you did here in the 1973 - 1979 F100 forum. There are a couple guys buildings trucks on the forum you might reach out to them to try and find a price for everything. Unless you already know what you want for it.
I had an old Jeep which I loved. I put all sorts of money into aftermarket parts. Went through several engines and transmissions. It finally got to the point where it needed another mechanical rebuild - engine, transmission, gears, new tires, and even brakes - which all added up to a lot. Plus the body had enough rust that new body panels were in order. And the seats and carpet kit were worn out. It was time for that strip down rebuild. I crunched all the numbers. Just parts alone was over $10K. I loved that Jeep. A lot of memories. But for the money, it wasn't worth keeping. For 7 months, I thought that I would find a buyer who would restore it and take care of it. That never happened. Nobody saw the same sentimental value, and it was almost nothing on the Blue Book. The real value was in having a straight frame, and no impact collision damage. Unlike a lot of other Jeeps, it was never rolled, suffered underbody damage from rock crawls, or driven through 30 inches of water. Someone could have rebuilt it. I wanted to. But nobody else wanted to. Plus, I spent the money on an ex-girlfriend's breast implants. The Jeep had to go to the scrap yard.
Thanks Tim. Yes the truck is completely in pieces. In the end it probably is going to be easier to sale the primary or higher value parts and then take the rest to the dump. I was originally wanting someone to take the whole pile for a great price so they could "flip" parts if they did not need the whole thing. I will search out others on site that may want some parts. Is there a specific section of the site that you are aware of that I should search? Regards. Todd
