P0720 & P0722 Codes

P0720 & P0722 Codes
Vehicle: 2001 7.3 Excursion 255k miles
Problem:
A few months ago the overdrive light started flashing intermittently. It only did it at idle and in park. As I would accelerate the light would stop flashing. I pulled the codes and they were P0720 & P0722 so I replaced the Output Speed shaft Sensor. This seemed to fix the problem as the codes did not reappear for a few hundred miles, prior to replacing the sensor the overdrive light was flashing every 4 miles or so. They are back now with the same exact symptoms. I find it hard to believe that a brand new motorcraft sensor could be bad after a few hundred miles.
I monitored with AE and a summary of the results is listed below.
In park with OD light flashing: OSS rpm jumps around from 1 to 850
In Drive, foot on brake OD light flashing: OSS rpm jumps around from 0 to 850
In drive accelerating: Seems to produce a logical RPM
In park OD light not flashing: OSS rpm 0
Any suggestions?
