I have a 1985 F350 crew cab long bed dually. The tilt column has a broken position that happens to be the sweet spot lol.
Anyone have a source for replacement parts or a fix for this issue?
The only thing I can think of is to get junkyard parts but I think that what I find may be no better than what I have now.
Thanks in advance for any help.

If it’s just got one bad position it sounds like the locking lever broke a tooth. No idea where else to source one other than a JY.
Locking lever at 6 o’clock. Don’t have a picture but has essentially teeth that lock against a pin. My pin was loose on one side so any pressure on the whee would make it fall to the lowest position.
If you have any of these trucks in the junkyard, you should be able to find one in better shape. From what I have seen, it's the lifted 4x4 trucks that had the worst column problems. People use the steering wheel to pull themselves up into the cab. A 2wd truck in the yard would probably be the best bet for a good column.

I was working on one of these tilt columns and had to put a lot of pressure on the directional switch arm so I disassembled column to take a look and the bell wire was not making good contact on teeth so I bent the one end to make better contact then assembled and tried it and it worked perfectly so that was my issue was I had to bend that Bale wire to make good contact with the gear teeth that locks it in place
Take the column bracket from donor truck just in case. But if memory serves me right you have to use the one that came on your truck. Bolts on to 87-91 column
I still have 84 F250 SC Diesel 4x4 that's in pretty decent shape, but it has been parked for couple of years, ever since the tilt steering failed to hold any setting.
It's probably been damaged over the years from grabbing the steering wheel too often when getting in and out of the cab!
Otherwise the steering column is fine.
I am tempted to get a 87 - 91 F series tilt column from a U-pull and just replace it.

That's what I would do. Steering columns are a pain to take apart and work on. Find one out of a 2wd that is lower to the ground.
