At about 6 months old, my '17 had an intermittent crank and NO start, went on for weeks. Ford was no help at trouble shooting the problem. The last time it happened the truck finally displayed a CEL,........ three codes leading to the "fuel pump control module". Got it replaced through warranty, this was four and a half years ago and no issues.
The module is located in front of the rear axle passenger side, two small bolts mount it to the bracket and a multi pin connector. MSRP is $35. (I carry a spare module, simple fix and ten minutes).

Thanks!! That's great info!! The interesting part is that a you had the problem for a while b4 you had the CEL.
It would seem logical that most people having the delayed start have a fuel pump/check valve problem. I say this simply because they replace their fuel pump and the problem goes away. It also seems logical that if most were having a problem with the control module, that a new fuel pump assembly would NOT fix their problem.
At any rate ...... $35 and a couple of minutes is worth a shot for many dreading the fuel tank removal.
Especially for the guy in one of those threads who has been through 4-5 fuel pumps.
OOOppppssss!!
Inflation.... so was MSRP $35 ........ now $110 discounted to $56 at Tasca:
