But surely don't expect the Ram 2500 to be able to do the work your 350 can.

By the way, I'm not loyal to either brand. I currently have a Ram 2500, but have an F450 on order. I love my old Ram truck. I've been really happy with it overall, but it just doesn't meet my current needs.
I completely understand what you are saying. Having had both 250's and 350's there really is not that much difference in ride if any. The Ram had the rear air suspension which makes a huge difference. I had a 2015 Ram 2500 with rear coil springs and would have preferred an Amish buggy.😁
The biggest thing to me really was no annoying feedback thru the steering well like the Fords.
I Do hope no one gets the wrong idea. I firmly believe they both make great trucks and I love my Ford. But let's be honest. They ALL have problems.

This is just incorrect, the mega cab is larger inside than the current Ford or gm cabs, not by a lot but it is bigger.
They will discontinue the Mega cab when they do their redesign, probably next year as a 2023, and will use the current 1500 cab, just like when Ford changed over the super duty to the f150 cab. They will likely have an updated trans at that time as well, to catch up to Ford and gm.

This is a silly statement, Fiat doesn't make RAM trucks, never did. Ram was building trucks way before they were part of the Fiat Chrysler merger. And, now all are part of the new Stellantis automotive group.

And, as I stated, my RAM has held up for 6.5 years and 608K miles, so they aren't junk.

I have test drove hd/sd trucks from the big 3 recently. I test drove another f350 7.3 lariat cc sb today again and was still disappointed. Any version of the Chevy/GMC (srw or Drw) rides better than the other 2. Also, on the 3500hd there are 3 upper overload springs and only 1 on the Ford. I plan on hauling heavy weight so the Chevy/GMC won't need as many mods or any. Here is my ranking of them as far as quality of the ride goes:

1. Chevy/GMC2. Fiat3. Ford

All this cab space talk had me curious, so I found this. It looks like any additional room that the mega cab has over the others is behind the rear seat.

Well of course the GM car/trucks ride the best. It is the IFS. You go ahead and get one of those if you think it will be best for heavy hauling. You can not judge the weight carrying capcity by counting the spring leaves, there is a bit more to it than that...

The Ram with the air suspension in the back is the best riding HD truck I have even been in by a good margin.

yeah when I was reading the replies that crossed my mind.

when I was researching cab space I thought I remembered reading the only real benefit of the mega cab over the regular crew cab was 1) space behind the seat…not for people that actually might sit back there and 2) reclining rear seat…which is actually kind of cool but not a big seller considering the old 4th gen ram cabs are the smallest of the bunch.

I've hauled heavy with Chevy for years and years on my farm. They held up far better than the Fords because we had wash board dirt roads. Plus you could grease the Chevy front end unlike the Ford. The Fords would rattle the fillings of your teeth out.

I agree the auto level air ride is great!! Almost bought a new Ram because of it. I’ve owned Rams for years starting with a 2003 and they have all been very good. I decided to go Ford this time because of the aluminum body and 10speed tranny. Unlike most people on here I do care about mileage and think this will return good mileage and still be capable when needed.

Yes, excellent flatland farm rigs, very popular in the midwest. In the rocky mountains nobody buys them, almost all Ford and Dodge here. I don't buy GM trucks because I plow snow with mine and the front ends simply do not hold up like a 6500 lb capacity Dana super 60. I have owned several of each, 3 GM HD's, 5 Rams, and 4 Fords. I'll keep buying the Fords because they hold up the best for my use. Sounds like you found what works best for you. I wonder why you would come to a Ford forum with silly comments about GM trucks holding up better? How did you think that would go? If we all thought GM made the best trucks based on our experiences we wouldn't own Fords...

I've had Ford trucks since 1994, but all 2WD twin I beam front suspensions and no Super Duty aside from a test drive. I get the Amish buggy part, but what do you mean by "annoying feedback through the steering wheel" - could you expand on that? Or do you just have to "been there" ?

Mega cab rear seat reclines due to that space behind the seat, and the whole thing will fold flat to the floor, making a huge flat area for cargo or putting a mattress on, or animal cages or whatever.

My Mega cab as a sleeper berth...

Will be having to figure out how to make a similar setup in my new Lariat...

Well, when I first got my RAM 2500 with the rear air suspension, I was expecting a big difference in ride from my 2012 F250, and I actually felt like the Ford rode a little better except over sharp bumps.

ok, if that is from the factory that is pretty neat. I could have used that feature in my CC Ford.

After 20 years in Rams with the last 7 in my 2014 2500... I am soooo grateful to be in my 22 F350. Miles apart and far more comfortable.

An 8 year difference in trucks is substantial. Just because your current truck is nicer than your 8 year old truck, doesn't mean the current 2500/3500 isn't comparable to the current 250/350.

You're so right on... Each of the brands have their strong points, and they all have their problems. And then there's a little bit of luck with each.
