Got the arms made, drilled and tapped. Pick up mud flaps tomorrow. Will finish cleaning and prepping this weekend, and be ready to paint and attach flaps. All for less than $100
Looking good! Post up a few photos of your finished product. Are you using aluminum tubing and powder coating it?
Looking good man. Post pics on how you mount the flap to the bracket.
I haven't decided if I'm going to weld angle iron across the top and bolt it to it, or just use self tapping screws and screw it directly to the square tube. The more metal I add, the heavier they get!
I just leave my hitch home. A novel idea these days..
Love the entertainment of a trailer hitch thread. Such a basic thing that doesn’t need complexity, until someone decides to make the overly simple..complex..
I especially love the 100 pounder models with a dozen slots that need a fork lift to install.🤣.
I guess someone is always re-inventing the mouse trap.
The side openings sometimes do come in handy though.
hummm...are those 98" wide? they would need 3 lights across the middle in NY.

How far off of the ground are the bottom of the flaps?
Sooo.... for hitch storage... I'm using the underseat storage in the crew cab. Leaving my BW hitch in there all the time, and a Reese tow ring in the receiver at all times. Locked with a padlock of course.
I do like the idea of the steps from the hitch sides and I may incorporate some reverse lights into them so that idea is out for me. Do we know if the transverse tube us the same for F250 and F350?

I’m guessing they were measured by Lively for the 17’-19’ model year trucks which were higher.
I cut 2” off of them, and remounted the SS plates.
The flaps are roughly cut 2” up from the pavement. When I hook up a trailer, they ride roughly 1/2” to 3/4” up.
Hook up your particular trailer and measure the sag.

My rock stoppers arrived and did not have the SS weighted plate attached to the bottom of the flap. I installed them and discovered I needed the weighted plate to keep the flaps from lifting while under way. I contacted livelymachine.com last Friday and was told they would ship them to me along with the hardware for installation. The quality, fit and finish and customer service is excellent. Once I get the weight SS plate attached I am sure these will work out great.

Aluminum heat shield and helps keep the flap rigid, but still need the lower SS weighted plate on the exterior side of the flap.
I received the SS weight plate from livelymachine and installed the today. This will eliminate any flap sailing when underway.
A few updated pics.
I just got back from a week long camping trip and these rock stoppers did exactly what I hoped they would. The front our our Travel Trailer was clean.
It would have been handy if Ford had put a couple holes in the tube for us. My tube is dimpled as it gets closer to the receiver itself. It's that way on both sides.
