It’s a 02.
im not sure….I believe the solenoid is on the starter if I’m not mistaken………… haven’t tried starting it in neutral. I’ll do that when I get home.
Where is the ground for all of the starting system? Looking online and not finding a quick answer
Starter grounds through its mount to the transmission. There are two ground straps from the engine block to the battery on each battery to the front of the block right behind the battery.
On 02-03 There is an inline connection on the top center of drivers side wheel well liner just behind/maybe partially under airbox. I have seen these corrode and cause no crank
I would get someone to assist and use a DVM to check for voltage drops while someone cranks it for you.
Measure across the batteries, batteries to terminals, batteries to engine, batteries to starter.
That will tell you where the problem is.
So I got underneath my truck and wiggled the wires around. Found the thinnest wire move quite a bit at the connection even though tightened down.
pushed wire to one side to make it hold in place and when I turned the key, it started. I got the truck started 5 times in a row.
removed the started and found it to be noticeably loose at the contact point in the video. Is this normal? I find that hard to believe? Going to return and exchange for a new one
I had a similar problem on my truck I then disconnected the part mentioned by e swift placed it to the battery terminal and my truck would start right up. It’s kind of like hard wiring the starter. Sorry for the vague post but I’m gojng to try and find out if it’s the positive or negative you touch the connecter to. But there is a chance that could get you rolling was able to start my truck for over a week using the above method.
