They are straight boots though. They have ceramic ends.
Are you using them on a 351W? I’ve been considering the straight ceramic boots but I’m not sure there’s enough clearance with the firewall at cylinder #8.

Interesting observation on the Belden wires. Any idea what was causing that? I’m really surprised the Beldens failed. They seemed like a very nice set.

Do you think vibration was a factor? The wires were carefully installed with the factory clips and nothing had come loose.

Yes had them on my 96 Bronco 5.8 for more than a year now. So far so good. No complaints.

Okay, I pulled the trigger and ordered a set of NGK plug wires:

https://ngksparkplugs.com/en/part-finder

Anybody want to come to my house and help me with the installation? After burning through so many sets, I gotta wonder if I'm doing something wrong. I'm in western Oregon, about 30 miles from the People's Republic of Portland. If you drive a Subaru wagon and only come out during the day, Antifa will generally leave you alone...

Opinions on heat sleeves, please.

I had previously tried a set and had the same failure as without sleeves. I should note in all cases, with or without sleeves, none of the rubber boots had any apparent heat damage.

I've never used heat sleeves on the sparkplug wires in my Oldsmobiles and my 71 98 has headers. I often get many years on a set of sparkplug wires too.

Are you using di-electric grease on the end of the spark plug or in the boot when you install the wires? You can also put a little di-electric grease on the distributor cap end of the wires.

Am I using di-electric grease? Do you really have to ask? I LOVE the stuff, and keep a well-used tube of Dow DC4 in my tool tray. Besides electrical use, I also use it to style my hair and as a desert topping, too.

I'm obviously perplexed why I've had such bad luck with plug wires. The engine has stock manifolds, so no underhood heaters headers. The only factor that comes to mind is I work my truck really hard sometimes, hauling a camper at full GVW during the summer. The engine gets a good workout in the heat.
