I need to replace the flex plate on my 94 f150 302 4R70 trans. I have removed all four converter nuts and the trans is slid back 1-1/2" but the converter is not separating from the flex plate. I've tried prying it away with a screw driver but it won't budge. Trans is at the correct height so I don't think it's binding, what am I missing?
It's probably hungup on the converter snout, or the threads are catching. I've had it happen before.
If you've moved the transmission back 1-1/2" already, the converter basically isn't in all the splines anymore. you might as well just drop the transmission at this point, because you're going to have to stab the converter and line everything up again.
I removed four of the trans mounting bolts one at a time and installed a 6" long bolt in those holes to keep the trans lined up so I could slide it back about 5". Would I be able to rotate the motor to re-engage the splines? Trying not to lose all the fluid if I can.

You *might* get lucky. I wouldn't risk it. Maybe other guys have done it this way, I know I haven't.
