Long story short, the motor was rebuilt, turbo cleaned, all new sensors, new high pressure oil pump and whole system was re o ringed, new nipple cups, rebuilt injectors, oil cooler, egr cooler deleted, straight 4” exhaust all the way back.
truck has a hard time starting, i have to hold the throttle pedal to the floor to get it to start. Runs rough until fully warm. Vgt cycles more than normal, but never a full range cycle( 15-85). Mostly hovers around the upper 60-85% area.
after the truck is warm when i try driving there is no throttle response for a few moments until the truck starts rolling then slowly it gains some speed until it slingshots.
all sensors seam to be within reason except the vgt being at 85% and the ebp being around 2lbs. Both are new sensors and the turbo has been cleaned recently.
The video I posted was for the Turbo indexing after cleaning. The #6 & #7 injector circuit low is probably why it's having trouble starting. That's not normal. Did you use Motorcraft reman'd injectors?
As for the 85%, I believe, with 4" straight pipe exhaust, it will try to create back pressure and it's normal to see VGT of 85% at idle.
You can pull the harness and test the injector and the wiring back to the ficm without pulling everything. I'm actually having issues with #2 injector and hoping someone can chime in. I have attached the diagnostic PDF I used.
Just throwing this out here. After one of my iterations fixing the HPO system, I had a #4 contribution code and it was running rough, obviously not firing at all on that cylinder. I was getting ready to pull everything back down and just looked at the pins in the injector connector and found that I had pushed one of them back so it wasn't connecting. There was enough pin where I could get a small pair of needle nose pliers on it and pull it back up and reconnect. Problem solved.
