Engine Shutting Off
My 2002 excursion with a 7.3 PSD recently died while driving. No symptoms or warning what so ever simply 3-4 miles down the road and the engine just cuts out. Battery etc all seem fine and the starter is strong. The truck will restart after it cools down only to repeat the issue. I gimped it to the Ford dealership and they say I need a new HPOP which seems the symptoms and lack of any other rough running engine symptoms would be unusual for a failed HPOP. The HPOP is an aftermarket CNC Fab HPOP. Seems more like a crank sensor failure or something else electronic but the dealership says no. Hmmmm. I also think my GEM module is going as the car will lock and Unicode itself at random times but I doubt the GEM would effect the power train no? Anybody have any thoughts?
