My 7.3 PSD is having engine troubles - after sitting overnight, the following morning as I drive to work, the engine starves for fuel and shuts down after running for about 2 minutes. At first I thought it was the fuel turning to gel, so I kept the block warmer plugged in even on the warmer nights - still does it. I thought it was water in the seperator so I drained it several times. I have about 135,000 miles on it, and with the exception of the CPS - never had to replace a thing. Could this be the injectors or HPOP starting to fail? It ONLY happens after sitting 8+ hours and only once. After turning over the engine for 10 seconds - it starts back up. Can anyone recommend an experienced deisel specialist in Connecticut?
actually does that right after it restarts. Just before it dies, I step on the pedal and instead of going, it feels exactly like a gas engine running out of gas - the more I push down, the more it tries to stall - it loses power and eventually shuts off.

Thanks for your help.
In this post ^ you say it 'happens only once', does that mean after the restart you then can drive your truck all day with out any problems?
135k miles, have you ever changed your fuel filter?
Yes that is correct - once it shuts off - I have to turn the engine over for 10 to 15 seconds and it will start back up. It will run rough and eventually smooth out over the next 30 to 45 seconds. It will run perfectly fine all day long - with no issues - if it sits over night, the same thing happens the next morning. I don't get any "Check Engine" lights or anything.
I have replace my fuel filter - every 12,000 miles or so - I will change it again this Saturday, but I don't think that is the problem.
What is your fuel tank level when this happens? Have you done the in tank mods? After it is started the second time, do you hear any excessive injector noise. I was just wondering if you have a problem with the in tank pick up sucking air or draining back. Sounds like it can't pull the fuel up fast enough to keep it running. Just a thought.
The temps range from 30 degrees to 50 degrees - it happened again this morning and it was 50 out. It's so strange - for the first time today, the low fuel light came on, the gague showed empty - when I had 3/4 of a tank. i just don't understand it. I do use the anti-gelling agent as well. Again, it only happens in the morning after sitting overnight - I think if it was a fuel tank hardware issue, the problem would occur anytime of day.
