I am considering buying an 2003 F250 that has the following transmission codes:
P2701 Transmission Friction Element "B" Apply Time Range/Performance
P0715 Turbine/Input Shaft Speed Sensor "A" Circuit
P0730 Gear Ratio Error
The only noticeable performance issue is the 2-3 shift. It hangs in 2nd gear way too long and then slams into 3rd. This is significantly more pronounced when the transmission is cold. Not sure if this also matters, but the O/D button on the shifter is broken off, and the O/D light is not illuminated.
Hopefully this is all symptomatic of something easy like a solenoid or harness, but my knowledge of transmissions is lacking.
Just a thought - if it is the sensor, and that sensor is the one on the top of the transmission, it's easy to replace through the doghouse on our Eseries, but I'm wondering if Chris would have to drop the crossmember and lower the trans to get it out of an Fseries. Mark is almost always right, and it's logical that it's a wiring issue causing all of it. None of the tranny harnesses are expensive or difficult to install. Doesn't sound like a deal breaker to me.
Chris, if you like it, maybe negotiate a trans fluid change in the deal, and check that for metal before you hand over your money.
