Ford did in fact build 8-lug half ton trucks. Search “F-130” on the forum, a few have popped up. There is no factory literature regarding these trucks.
That's what my brother has with dual piston caliper front brakes. Here's another F100 "trailer special"..

If you'll alow me to get off subject for just a tiny bit so if someone ever tells you "they don't make a 8 lug f150" more specifically in the 1973-1979 and more specifically only in the 1976 year I believe, because the only ones I've seen were 1976 but all had F150 emblems on them. You can say they actually did make them ..
see the pics over here ... and here but the lugs aren't completely visible to be fare .. Called my brother to verify his has F150 emblems and it does and has 8 lug wheels and dual piston front calipers .

I think one of the key things is the extra wiring harness. I worked at an RV dealer and was very happy when a trailer special came in. One of my tasks was to wire vehicles up and install brake controller. I don't believe Ford offered a controller but the wiring for it was bundled under the dash and it went to the rear, they came with HD turn flasher and a plug for the rear in the glove compartment. We had a Country Squire in the shop once to install brake controller and hitch. Had class III towing package, it included wiring and emblem was on the back bumper Trailer Special. Had reinforced frame and rated to pull 7000 lbs. Anyway I think the key may be to look for the factory installed harness from under dash to the rear bumper including the brake wiring, not tapped in like aftermarket or wires added. OT but the 8 bolt dual caliper thing on a half ton was discussed in the past. Memory is fuzzy but seems like it was something made in or for the west or south. Serial number is different than a F100 or 150 or 250. F17? Can't find it and doesn't apply to original topic.

Your right it doesn't apply to the original topic but the OP made the statement "They don't make 8 lug F150's" which incidentally does make it part of the subject at hand because it is his thread and he made the post and I only pointed out that they did. Period.! While having a little fun doing it. The F130's were all branded F150 with 8 lugs.
