I am starting to feel like IHCC, having Mr. Murphy as a co-pilot. Getting ready for a long haul and planned on replacing the Fuel Filters before I start and carrying a spare set too. Well, none of the local vendors have the Motorcraft sets in stock, although I will be trying the local dealership at my lunch break. If I have to bite the bullet and go with an aftermarket/non-Motorcraft, which ones should I REALLY avoid. Local auto parts vendors are Napa, O’Reiley, and Autozone. One thought is to head out on my first leg of the trip and see if any of the vendors there have what I need and do a parking lot change.
Thanks Everyone for the feedback.
P.S. I tried searching, but did not have much luck, everything seems to be buried in other Threads as peripheral information.
Will,
I just checked and my local Autozone has the Motorcraft Fuel Filter set. You can check your local store online... Good luck and have a Fun and Safe trip!
On edit: I see you already tried to source a MC one locally. I'd only do Racor or MC, so if it were me, I guess I'd be changing it on the road once I found one of those...
Scott, both online and in store check had none closer than Auburn and they wouldn’t be up here any sooner than Saturday. The Dealership is in the same boat. The Ford Warehouse is empty too although they are supposedly getting an order of 3K units shipping tomorrow. Those will probably go to fill back orders with the dealers.
I did go on line to Dieselfilters.com and will be placing an order, but picked up a NAPA Gold set to get me by for the time being.
I was hoping to escape the heat, but the forecasts are showing similar temperature trends for the entire trip even if the destination temperatures are lower than Redding.

I was editing my post when you posted - I missed that you had tried them all. Auburn is the closest to me as it turns out... Keep your cool - it's going to be a hot one!
Mark, it is more of a time factor for me. I did not follow the 5 P’s and so it has bit me in the tail feathers.
The counter guy might have been able to get a set from another Dealership if they did not have it committed to the service department. I had not anticipated my mechanic being out of them and not able to get any either, so I am making due and getting on the road.
