? about rear Differential and Transfercase
I recently had a gear oil leak from the front of the Transfer Case seal as I was changing the fluid in the Differential. I had No leaks before this. I wanted to change my Differential fluid as it has 60k miles on it now. So I Drained and Added fluid to the differential. No leaks at the Cover. When I added fluid to the Differential to reach the recommended level as I saw in a Video That is when the Seal on the Transfer case started to drip. I also watched a Video on changing the Transfer case fluid giving me the impression that these two units held their own seperate fluid. The more I pump in to the Differential the Faster it leaks from the Transfer case seal. It's like I am Overfilling but the Differential never reaches the recommended level before the Seal on the Transfer case leaks. Obviously something makes no sense. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Are you sure there is a transfer case at the differential? That is the only way their fluids could interchange/mix.
Maybe post a pic of your leak.
