New here and recently bought a 2010 Ford Escape XLT v6. It has a CD and a small screen on it. Has anyone upgraded to the Sync 1 or newer Navigation system in theirs? I know you need the aftermarket single/double din bezel but has anyone done this to theirs?
It’s actually very simple & he purchased a very nice Sony from Walmart. We have a car audio shop near us, but they couldn’t touch Walmart’s prices. He bought the stereo, the install kit, (4)
5-1/4” Kicker speakers for the doors, & a 10” sub w/enclosure & amp for the rear. The head unit even came with a backup camera that we mounted above the license plate. The only issue we ran into was with the backup camera, since his Escape has a positive ground for the backup lights. We had to wire in a relay to make it work
Also, I just remembered, we started out first with a double din Pioneer, but it wasn’t touch screen. But this gave him the opportunity to paint the bezel because it was silver & wasn’t looking to good. The nice thing about the Sony too is that it has Apple Car Play which syncs to his IPhone
It can’t be that difficult & there are YouTube videos that explain how to do it
I didn't say it can't be done, I said it's a lot more complicated than the 2004 was since the panel basically now serves as a display and an input for a networked information system. The 04 was a pretty simple head unit swap, much like has been done for decades.
Mine looks exactly like the pictures in the sales brochures.
