So I am running a 192* thermostat and a two speed Beck/Arnley thermo switch to trigger my fans. I had the single speed fans triggered by the low speed side of the thermo switch. The fans turned on at 198* and struggled to reduce the engine temp below 192*. The fans also turned on quite often in city driving. I found that the fans stayed on so long that it annoyed me. So I tried changing the trigger temp to the high side of the thermo switch. Now the fans trigger at 208* and the fans reduce the temp to 192* in a little more than a minute. I also found that since there is a greater spread between the thermostat 192* and the trigger temp of 208* (16*) the fans don't come on nearly as often.
I thought for certain I used to run a 198* thermostat, but all the parts houses say oem was 195*. Oh well.
I believe that I will try to fit a Taurus 2 speed fan on the truck. I'd just feel better having the high speed in reserve.
