Hello everyone, new here. I'm Marcell. I recently, through an amazing barter, acquired a 94 F250 4x4 XLT. Prior to this I had no knowledge of a pre PS turbo 7.3. Now I do of course and in trying to absorb as much knowledge as I can. I could possibly have ambitious plans for the truck. Ok, to the point of my post. It's an automatic so an ole E40D according to everything I've read so far. Here's my problem. The OD is blinking and in drive it will not shift. If you out the truck in second then back to drive after building speed it does nothing. I read an earlier post regarding throttle positioning unit and was wondering if this may be the culprit. I've taken a few pics of a potential problem in the general vicinity of the linkage. It's a wire coming of the harness feeding the cam sensor that the connector has broken off. I can't tell exactly where from but it appears it may have came from the end of the throttle linkage. Can anyone tell me where this has broken off of and if it may be responsible for my transmission problem? Please see attached photos. Thanks in advance.
BTW:
The cam sensor is brand new (it seems to have drastically improved the hard starting)
There are two ways to fix this. One way is that we guess at what may be causing the problem. You buy and install the parts that we guess at. Eventually, we might find the problem and you will be out only a few thousand dollars.
The other way is to read the codes, and then we will know where the problem is and how to fix it. You can read the codes using this: www.troublecodes.net/ford
I finally figured out that particular wire had broken off the cold start solenoid so definitely not the tranny culprit. Wait, can we still say tranny or is someone going to cry? Anyway, I'm still praying that this could be an electrical issue and not a mechanical one. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again in advance.
