Hello I have a 1993 Ford F-250 with a 7.3 nonturbo with a 5 speed manual transmission. I also have a 1993 Ford F-250 with a 7.3 Turbo with a 5 speed transmission. I am trying to replace the tach sensor on the 7.3 non-turbo. So I was going to switch the one from the 7.3 turbo onto the 7.3 nonturbo. After taking it off the 7.3 turbo it threaded in the 7.3 nonturbo but the plug didn't fit. Here what's weird the sensor from the 7.3 nonturbo would fit on the 7.3 turbo. I don't know if the previous owner did something with it or what. But all the ones I find online are the same sensor as the one on the 7.3 turbo which won't fit the 7.3 nonturbo. The fist picture is the sensor plug from the nonturbo which I need and the second is from the 7.3 turbo. Both sensors look the exact same except the plug. Please help.
I'll check it tonight to see if it matches your NA plug.
I can ship it.
I did buy a new one recently online, but can't relocate the vendor. :-(
What in thinking about doing is cutting the plug off my 7.3 turbo and then installing it on my 7.3 nonturbo. Could you send a picture of it and the plug on it and what do you want for it?
:-( My original '92 is like the you bought, with the blue ring.
Not a bad idea. best would be to unlock the pins, slide them out and then insert in the right connector. But you'd need a special tool. Looks like a thin steel sleeve that would slide up the backside of the wire and unlock the locking tab inside the connector.
Maybe if you had an electronic shop nearby, they might have the tool.
But if you simply cut and splice the wires that will work. I bet the orientation doesn't matter either. Probably just a coil that generates a few tenths of a volt AC signal But try to keep the pin orientation the same.
