Ford is NOT going to throw any old substandard part into this engine.

I never once said anything about the 7.3 engine, nor have I had anything about it mentioned to me. I was making a statement about the OEMs and what was going on after the pandemic.

IF Ford has a problem with this engine, they will never admit it. They never have. Nor has any other auto company. I think the 7.3 is a great engine with a chance of lifter problems, like the 5.7 Hemi does.. All engines of all brands have their maybe problems. Pick the one you like and hope for the best.

Why are you so upset about an engine you like? I like the engine in my truck, but I wouldn't be surprised if I found out there was a self timed grenade program in it. Companies don't want their products to last too long, any of them.

my daughter has a 2003 Highlander….21yrs old with 250,000 miles on it. Even newer products last a good long time if you take care of them. So you take a poll and ask members here how many of them think a major engine maker from any brand is going to knowingly use “any old sub standard parts in their engines” and therefore risk lawsuits and ruination of their brand? Let me know when the poll is finished. In the meantime put me down for a “I don’t believe they do it”. Waiting

Yes, under the 50K powertrain warranty. In three business days! Runs perfectly. Entire NEW long block. And they gave me a 3 year/ 45K mile maintenance program. Paid for our rental vehicle. Paid for our "stay" while truck was repaired. (We do have the Ford Extended Warranty)

This is true. Toyota admitted to using suppliers that they normally wouldn't to try to get parts. If I remember right, they stated at the time that the problems with the parts coming from second and third tier suppliers were (mostly? all?) cosmetic.

I would be very surprised to find that Toyota was the only mfgr with this problem (and solution).

Added in edit: here's one of many stories about Toyota: LINK
