Wood Trailer Deck Stain Question

Good morning. I want to color stain my new 70PI-16x wood deck grey. Wood is pressure treated and plan to BLO (linseed) treat it afterwards, which Big Tex recommends anyway, so I'll need a water-based sealer-free stain. I also know BLO will cause some slight yellowing, but a grey deck would look real nice. Not interested in used motor oil

Am I wasting my time with the stain, or just go BLO only?

.

I'd do either the BLO or the stain, not both. The oil will do better in the long run, but then it's been a while since I dealt with paints and stains a lot.

Off-topic, why do you use x-chock on this trailer? Just curious.

It looks like there is a lock hanging off it so it's another way to keep it in the drive along with the ball lock it looks to have.

I have a 30' long 1 1/2" chain I run through the axles of my trailers when I'm away from home, helps keep my tires and wheels attached. At the house everything sits beside the shop and is secured there.

Super Deck by Duck Back and choose your color from light ceder, red ceder, redwood to coastal grays. It is an oil based product mainly tongue oil. Spray it on, roll it on or brush it on. You can also add linseed oil to the mix. When it is time for a re-coat there is no peeling and scraping just apply more. I have used this product since it came out on fences, houses and decks. It does tend to need a re-coat about every two years for the first few years and then it is good for many years. This product is made in Chico California.

I know this was probably wasted effort but I applied Ames Safe-T-Deck to my tilt trailer boards. I have no confusion about how my first encounter with a forklift will go, however maybe the paint will give me extra traction for loading and a few extra years on these boards.

I wound up sticking with BLO only. I couldn't find a decent grey stain I liked and most was interior. I bought a small can to test and didn't like how it came out

Yes, locked X-chocks to ensure it's all still there in the morning but I've got wheel locks now. They came with my hauler but already had a set

On the bottom, two coats of foundation coating.
On the top, three coats of helmsmen spar urethane.

Ordered last fall. I rolled on two coats back to back of a clear preserver purchased at Home Depot. Stunk for a month LOL.

What sort of hitch are you running on your truck in that photo?
