1932 AAB Deuce, Dually, Dump
Well It happened! I took a step back in time and my screen name is not going to match up well with my proposed new old Ford project.
I hope to get this home in the next few weeks:
I still like 56 Fords too!

Chris
I'm not usually on this forum but visit now and then.

I will probably over in the Ford Barn Forum for most of my documentation. Good folks and knowledge both places. But the old brain will only be able to keep track of things in about 1 place!

Chris
Please post more pictures when you have time.
A few pictures that I have posted over on the Ford Barn.
Hope to load this and bring home this week.
Yes not looking for speed from this machine. Would like to get it functioning again and road worthy for some 40 mile trips.
Will need to look back at the notes on here about the various split rim configuration. I did find our local tire shop does have the cage and will work on some variations of split rims. Hopefully these fit into that. because i may need some tire/ rim work!

This truck has a Galion dump box:
Was used in a well drilling operation. I think the front head board is notched to allow pipe to be hauled.

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Is your 32 the earlier version with the pull cable actuated starter, or the later version with the floor mounted starter button?
Mechanical brakes, particularly the rod systems, are much more forgiving of infrequent driving than hydraulic systems. The safety of steel from pedal to wheel.
Thanks for the input. IIRC you have posted on my thread on the FORD Barn forum too?
This truck has the pull start **** which the sheathed cable is not in good shape. Going to noodle around the idea of changing the outer sheath?? That should be fun.
I also have to get into refurbishing the brake rod joints with the new over sized pins.
Very interesting that your post is timely as both those things are on my mind to look at this morning too.
By the way I do like the looks of the Oliver tractors!

Chris
Have been into the 32 far enough to find that the engine needs to be rebuilt. Babbit in center main is gone. I did get the tires on the wheels, and on the truck. I think they look fine. I can now roll the truck into the corner if I need too.
As you see I left the wheels as I found them. That was actually a new challenge for me. 1 to resist sending to a sandblaster for complete easy clean up. 2. I generally paint rims for new rubber. So I had to needle scale and air hammer the thick coating of rust flakes off the rims. Gently grind the lock ring joint and the mating portion on the lock ring. Then mask and paint only the area where the tire sets. I used rustoleum 2x flat primer. Good stuff and dries fast too.
Getting myself worked up to pull the engine and transmission soon. have all the engine parts located/ priced/ available from Snyder's. Will convert this to replaceable bearings on crank and rods, adjustable lifters, valve seats, new valves, probably bore .100 over nominal 3.875 which is std. Bore is currently .060 over.
Still having fun, but reality is setting in that the 32 will probably not move under its own power this year. Dang well as I get older and take on these projects I realize that I need to keep my expectation really low.
I am also working on getting the custom seat springs adjusted and in position for the upholstery shop to cover with tuxedo blue fabric.

Chris
Havent post on here much but things are progressing slowly on the 32.
Pulled the engine and transmission.
Fashioned new seat bases with the help of expert 32 Ford friend David R. Snyder's custom seat springs added.
Engine #1 ready to go to machine shop for evaluation. Bought another "B" engine in mid Tenn for parts. Actually rebuilding it now to move the truck around.
The 32 gets pulled out for some basking in the sun:
Correct headlights swaped for the Guide lights:
Second engine:
Good used rad came my way through a fellow in Michigan.
Truck gets moved to new area in shop. Thanks to Jim from Bugs&Tugs for doing the driving. I was able to do a brake test during that ride too!
Found my engine # 2 had been cracked open in frot of block:
Friend Jim F brazing it:
Repaired cracks in block, neighbor bored the block and did valve seats. New pistons and valve system:
Crank and rods had acceptable babbit, so going to try to run it that way.
Seats covered in Tuxedo Blue fit perfectly in the 32:
