I have a 2003 F250 with a V10 and an automatic transmission. The truck has about 7,500 miles on it. Back at around 1,500 miles I went on a 2,000 trip to the rocky mountains and the truck ran great. It had no problems with the steep elevation at all. When I got back home after about a week, it started to run sluggish. Not terrible, but it didn't have the same power...felt a little hesitant when accelerating. After bringing it in to Ford and having no success, I followed some advice that I got here and reset the computer. Immediately it was running great again. I brought my truck to Ford again for another problem and told one of the Techs about the computer reset. He said the computer likely needed to be reset due to the change in elevation, and this wouldn't have been found earlier when they checked the computer for trouble codes. Well, to make a long story short, everything ran fine up until a couple of weeks ago, and now back to the same sluggish performance. I haven't gone anywhere with different elevation. The only change was I stopped using the AC due to the colder weather. I reset the computer again, but no luck this time. I'm thinking it might have something to do with the mass air fuel sensor from some suggestions that I recieved here. It's frusterating when I'm driving because I know how good the truck used to run. Has anyone had similar problems?
i have that problem. I replaced the MAF new, but still runs the same. I returned it with a full refund and runing my old MAF. Turned out i had a PCV hose leak and bad fuel filter. I"m still running to see if it runs better. But now the accelerator pedal feels sluggish and heavy.
That was a fairly old posting, but from time to time I have noticed my truck seems to rum more sluggish than others for a few days or more. For some reason it seems to help if I run it a little harder than usual (accelerating a little more through the gears). I pretty much baby the motor, so I think sometimes I have to drive a little more aggressively to keep the computer from settling in to this easy-going driving pattern.
never had any problems with my g-pa's f-350 v-10 auto, but we both drive like a bat out of hell. the engine is rev happy in mine. quick and can beat most Chebbies out there. i did have one beat me but he was running a chip and exaust.
Maybe you might want to check and see if your coils are getting good contact with your plugs. Sluggish performance I think would be bad contact on plugs and maybe not running one cylinder. Oh by the way did not know, one coil at Ford Dealership is $114.00. Just thought I'd throw that in.
Mine is more sluggish with certain brands of gas. I know that sounds crazy, but the mileage difference in brands tends to make me think there is something to it.
My V10 seems to run better after beating on it for a while - too bad the gas prices are high enough to keep me from doing that :0
That giddy-up-and-go lasts for a few driving cycles and then goes back to slug mode.
My PCV piping is intact, no other problems, but the plugs have not been removed/cleaned or the coil boots changed since brand-new, four years old, and only 17K miles.
But yeah, it seems sluggish until I start to really get on it - it then starts to live through a few complete drive cycles and then starts to calm down...
