IIRC, it's what Cali uses--a 4-minute (aka, 240 second) test at varying speeds on a chassis dyno.

And with an attitude like that, you'll have smog checks & emission ***** in your backyard soon enough. I hope you get caught & NAILED TO THE WALL--big fine & jail time, & lose everything you own.

Eighh.... it wont happen here.Even if it does get bad, itll be like Utah...Only the places that meet the population requirements will be required to have safety and emmissionc testing.
Im my little town I know all the hick trucks, and I would say there are p'bly 5 or 6 that do not have cats. and thats in about a 60 mile radius of my town untill the next big town.
See, It really is about the population.
Most people just cut the mufflers any ways! a truck with cats and no mufflers is loud enough for most people.
By the way. I know of atleast 3 Very well respected muffler shops within 60 miles of my house that will cut the cats and straight pipe a brand new vehicle without giving it a second thought! Never been busted, and the BBB comes as expected! THats just the way it is around here.
I respect that you have cats on your truck! Bravo, but its something that a beurocradic 'blanket law' doesnt need to cover.

The BBB has nothing to do with it--it's the juristiction of the EPA.

My truck has no cats...since it's a diesel, it never did.

From: Wanatah In,
you'll be ok with a 94, as long as you keep your o2 sensor hooked up.

summit has a thing called an OBDII Killer. It will put your rear (Emissions police) in constant loop! This means you wont get a check engine light without your cats! I have two on my 96 stang, and they are easy to hook up and not too bad prices! About 80 for the set!

From: Wanatah In,
The 94 (at least mine) is OBD1. 96 is the first year with OBD2. So the OBD2 killer wouldnt be nessesary.

There is only one O2 sensor on OBDI an it is pre-cat. There should be no problems (other than the afore mentioned; not to revisit) in removing anything behind it. I'm registered in the county where no inspection is required and that is what I plan on doing with my '92 F150.

To answer paulfix, the military are no longer uses any piston engines that run on gasoline, apart from some very small generators (5-10 HP). Everything is diesel or it's a turbine. So, no cats and hardly even mufflers on the ground vehicles.

I live right in the Missle heartland. This place is literally crawling with 19 yearold strats with M-16, in big 'ol Airforce Blue Chevys and Fords, and camoed Armored and turreted HumV's. Ive hung out at the DQ a lot of times with these guys shooting the ****, and not one of those vehicles, besites the Humv is a diesel, OR a turbine. THey are all triton V-10s, V-8, and 5.7 Chevys....

Hmmm...That's interesting. When I was in the Army '92-'94 they were trying to phase all gas engines out. It may be that Army and Air Force have different agendas. Oh well, who am I to guess the mind of the military?!
