2011 Ford E350, No check engine lights, drives fine, 115k on the engine and of course I just bought it.

Mechanic will take off/ inspect it and put back on the valve cover for $500. We have isolated the sound to the drivers side valve cover. The mechanic says he doesnt hear anthing from the bottom.

Has anyone else had success in repairing this? or heard the same sound? I just dont want to go down this rabit hole blindly.

 

It would be worth looking to see if any of the spark plugs have come out, stripped plug threads were an issue that was fixed around 2005 or so but it's still possible with any motor depending how it was maintained.

I've never seen an ejected spark plug with the engine running but I'd think there would be a visible sign where the air/fuel mixture would be blowing upward out of the cylinder head. I don't see that in the linked video.

There is a noticeable engine shake and I hear a gurgling sound that doesn't remind me of anything mechanical

I wonder if this isn't a failed injector?

I'd post this same video over in the Modular engine sub-forum for the V8's---someone with an F-Series might have experienced this situation.
