I know this d**n question pops up every few months but I am hoping this one is a little different, just as debated but different.
Here is the thing, my 05 f350 just chews through its oil, and by about 4500 miles it is at the mid to low end of 30wt. I have been doing between 4500 and 5000 mile oil changes. The brand doesn't seem to matter. I have used Rotella, Valvoline, Delo, Triax and Motorcraft. My question is would it be worth it to try Amsoil, I have a dealer that can get it to me for about $3 gallon more than Rotella.

Reason: Correct grammar
Mobil Delvac 1 holds up well for me. Mobil 1 TDT just slightly worse than the Delvac. That said, I am still using old CJ oil instead of the new CK oil.
No real debate, I have plenty of data (UOA on every oil change and I have used Rotella T6 and Valvoline PBE).
I have used Schaeffer 9000 and it held viscosity the best, but my lead numbers went up with it (also came back down immediately after switching away from it)
I have always meant to try the Motorcraft 5W40, but just haven't used up all of my $15 a gallon Mobil oil (from great sales and rebates combined).
As far as trying Amsoil - why not. Try it and post data. I bet it holds up better than those others. Also, you might just find that data on BITOG.
I don’t do oil analysis. I have used Royal Purple 20W-50 for the last 16 years year around. I change the oil every 10K miles and have never had to add any oil to my motor between 10k mile oil changes. For the past 5 years I have used Arch oil AR 9100 friction modifier and a K&N reusable stainless steel oil filter with magnetic filtration. I change the oil and I wash the filter with gas or Seafoam in a black drain pan and let the gas clear. Using a LED flashlight, I see very, very small metal particles looking back at me and the amount remains the same between oil changes. That is normal wear.
One other thing I do. I have a clear measured oil container and a Fumoto oil drain plug. I run my motor to operating temp and open the valve. I let 8 quarts drain out and then shut the motor off and let the rest drain oil.
