I've seen lots of discussion here about Rotella-T conventional and synthetic oils and the Delo oil, but nothing about the Motorcraft 15w40 diesel oil. I saw it a Wal-mart for $2.32/ quart which is about same as Rotella-T conventional. Any one have knowledge/ opinion of this oil, or is it just one of the other brand oils with different Motorcraft packaging? Also, owners manual for 2000 F-350 says to use CG-4/SH. I think the current oils are CJ-4/S_, is this correct one to use?
i dont know about the packaging thing, but you are roight about the CG-4, but as long as you use CG-4 or higher, meaning a rating of CH, CI, and CJ that oil will be fine to run in your truck, the new trucks require CJ rating now, and i just bought a case of delo a couple weeks back and their rating is for CJ-4
Motorcraft now makes a 5w-40 full synthetic with the cj-4 rating. I know you can order it at a ford dealership.
BE CAREFUL WITH THIS NEW CJ-4 RATED OIL!!!! I CAN NOT STRESS THAT ENOUGH! Even the manufacturers of the oil say to expect reduced oil change intervals and to determine intervals based on oil analysis alone!

I'm running new Delo LE and have been told to not drop it yet by Blackstone. This was at 5,000 and they said re-test at 8,000 miles. I can keep an eye on it to confirm the reduced oil intervals. So far so good. I do not tow though, so maybe that has something to do with it.
I have used Motorcraft oil specifically for the last 2 years in my truck as the engine is not as noisy with it. Its just a pain dumping 15 quart cans of it in, Walmart here doesn't have the gallon jugs. The last oil change I used the Castrol 15w40 that Walmart sells because they didn't have enough of the motorcraft. So far I'm impressed with it, the smell out the ccv is no where near as bad and the engine noise is about the same as the motorcraft.

So far the CJ oil has proved very well. Super low wear metals and great shear stability. Lots of UOA's coming in at BITOG.
I buy the Motorcraft at Advance Auto Parts here and it's in the five (5) quart jugs, three jugs and I'm perfect. I think the last was around $10 per jug, not bad.

Thats wonderful to hear, I will be doing an UOA comparison between it and the rotella synthetic, just changed over to the rotella, so it will still be a little while.
