Its always the thing that shouldn't be a problem.... That lil fella is a bear to get tight, it must be hardened steel, I cant get the lil teeth to bend in, so pulling the middle of the body with back pressure gets it tight but its still wiggles, im not settling for wiggles while i have the steering column out, any suggestions, ive read lots of old posts and there dosent seem to be a good answer, wonder if Ford had a crimping tool for that dude... Heres a pic of the old one and it was TIGHT.
I’m pretty sure it’s spring steel. If the tabs are bent during install, it’ll never be tight. They are cheap enough ( LMC wants $12 ) that I’d get a new one. Should be way easier to install with the column out.
