Pedal travel upon initial application

Hey folks, I have a 56 F100 with the CPP frame mounted booster/master cylinder. I plumbed in the residual check valves 10lb for rear drums and 2lb for front discs. My question is... Is it normal for the pedal to travel close to the floor on initial application (truck has sat for a least a week) then stayed pumped up after the initial application. So do these residual check valves normally bleed down slowly?

I'm going to bump you up for the smarter folks to weigh in. My ignorant response to your question is "no". Something isn't right.

Even if they do bleed down you shouldn't have that much travel . My guess is your rear shoes are out of adjustment and taking up the initial pedal travel and then your residual valve does its job .

Something went wrong during the bleeding.

How did you bleed the system after installing the valve? This behavior sounds a lot you have still air in the system.

Like others mentioned, behaves like there is air trapped in the system. Rear drum brakes out of adjustment would cause low pedal all the time. A bad dual reservoir master cylinder also behaves in a similar manner. I'd first bleed the system again.
