I just purchased 2008 F-250 5.4L. The keyless doesn't work and I couldn't make the car enter programming mode. After trying 8 cycles with door closed or open, the lock cycle never happened. I only saw the lock/key symbol flashing in the dash as shown in video in below link.
are you sure your truck has remote entry installed? Often when you cannot get it to go into programming mode with the 8 key turns, then you do not have RKE installed.
I am not sure if the truck has remote entry installed. They gave me a remote when I purchased the truck. How can I check whether the truck equipped remote entry?
I checked with a ford dealer and they said this car didn't come with keyless remote. My question now is if the keyless remote module can be added or is there a way to check if the previous owner installed one
Not sure about what it would take to add the Ford RKE module nor if you have all the wiring and components installed for a simple module install. If you have auto doors locks, you could probably add a remote start kit that has remote entry cheaper than buying all the Ford parts if you can still get them from the dealer or junk truck.
Here is a wiring chart should you go with remote start or fine a remote entry kit.
I think it goes:
Turn off truck. Open door. Hit unlock all doors button. On/off 8 times. Leave key on last time. Hit remote button. Turn key off.
If not keyless entry set up get the remote start thing from Ford.
Here is the RKE programming instructions from Ford. There is no need to hit the unlock button or have the door closed or open. You do need to do the 8 key turns within 10 seconds.
Also, Ford remote start kits require RKE. If you do not have RKE, then you can not install the remote start as if probably won't work.
