Remote Door Locks
Remote Door Locks
G,day,
Been a while since my last post.....but I have been reading!!
My remote door lock keypad failed the other day, just thought it was a flat remote battery, got my second keypad and it did'nt work either (but it has been sitting for 6 years), so I replaced the batteries, and they still dont work.
I was wondering if there is a 'keypad re-learn procedure', or do they need to be programmed by the dealer?
Hope your elections go well today!

Remote Transmitter Programming
NOTE: All keyless entry remote transmitters (15K601) must be programmed at the same time.
NOTE: To program (or reprogram) the keyless entry remote transmitters into the generic electronic module (GEM), perform the following steps.
Excursion
Turn the ignition from OFF to RUN eight times within 10 seconds, ending in RUN. If the GEM has successfully entered the program mode, it will lock and unlock all the doors.
F-Superduty 250-550
Turn the ignition from OFF to RUN five times within 10 seconds, ending in RUN. If the GEM has successfully entered the program mode, it will lock and unlock all the doors.
All vehicles
Press any button on a keyless entry remote transmitter, and the doors will lock and then unlock to confirm that each keyless entry remote transmitter has been programmed.
If the door locks do not respond for any keyless entry remote transmitter, wait for several seconds and press the button again.
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, or wait up to five minutes after Step 1, to exit program mode. If a keyless entry remote transmitter has been programmed (or reprogrammed), the GEM will lock and unlock all the doors one last time.

Not too sure on the re-learn procedure, but I had to purchase a new keyless entry remote because I misplaced mine and it was a little over 80 bucks. Someone should chime in with a little more info here soon...
Unfortunately I cant seem to access the GEM successfully, tried many times, and returned my superchip to stock also. Maybe I have further problems, or the Aussie version may have different set-up involved?
Any other ideas?
BTW, thanks Ray

Just got the aussie version of reprogramming, exactly the same as Ray posted.
Guess my GEM module may have failed or is not talking to the p.c.m. maybe.
Anyone else had this problem?

Thanks Ray,
Sometimes you get caught up in the technical side of things...without checking the basics.
I have not checked them (fuses) yet, (might take a while as time is very short at present).
Managed to get hold of a workshop manual, so that may help also!

I know you have to turn the key quite fast in order for this procedure to work ! Like as fast as you can turn it on and off... Don't just get the 5 or 10 time in 10 seconds.. Do it fast to put it into program mode !
