Glad to hear it, and that it ended up being a simple fix!
Well, maybe not....I drove the truck around town while there and the 40 miles to my place, the AC worked flawlessly but, while hooking up the 5th wheel...it starts blowing warm air. Looks like its going BACK to the shop. I'll let you all know what they find...I'm still hoping for an easy fix but it doesn't appear like it's going to be quick. I see the filter/screen that they removed and it was for sure dirty...I just can't imagine how that much MORE crud could be in the system. It has never been open in 7 years that I've owned it and the AC worked great until it quit last fall. I doubt it's just plugged again, but I won't know until it goes back.
Would it be possible that the relay was weak (I am assuming that the issue is the same as before and that the compressor clutch isn't engaging)?
Anything is possible at this point, I haven't taken the truck back to the shop yet so it hasn't had further diagnoses. It acted just like it did the day it initially stopped working. To answer your question though, yes the compressor clutch isn't engaging. They did have at least some of the system open so it's possible that maybe a line or a seal let go and it dumped the refrigerant out also. I'm going to let the shop look before I go off on a tangent. These trucks are getting some age on them and things wear out.
Well I finally got around to taking my truck back to the shop to diagnose the problem with the AC after the original repair that didn't last. As it turns out the wire from the high pressure cut of switch was rubbing against one of the pulleys on the belt tightener and it chaffed through the harness and cut a wire off. Other than the trouble of having to take the truck back and get it diagnosed and repaired it was painless. All is well with the truck now. Thanks for all the help with this issue, It's much appreciated.
Also I might add that if anyone has issues with the AC in these trucks and it isn't immediately evident where to look for the problem, a good place to start may be with the tiny inline screen/orifice ( I don't know where it is in the system and never got to ask) but it's a $4.00 part and it can plug over time. Mine was nearly completely plugged.

My truck had that same wiring rub, but I caught it before it caused any problems. Over the years, I don't recall seeing any complaints on it on the forums, other than yours now. I guess these trucks ARE just getting old, lol. Thanks for posting the conclusion.
I think it may have been caused by the person that replaced the high pressure cut out switch, it was replaced at the same time the other things were. Regardless, the shop took care of it no charge. I'm glad to have everything back in working order though, I'm spoiled when it comes to AC. But, the trucks are getting some age on them, and I'm not spending nearly enough to keep mine going to even consider updating.
I'm not reviving this thread for any reason other than to let people know that after the ordeal with my AC and getting it resolved, all is well...the initial problem was indeed the inline screen near the evaporator, once that was found out...changed out, and the wire chaffing that resulted in the AC stop working a second time was repaired the AC works great, I hope this can help someone experiencing similar AC problems in the future.
