Fuel Door Problem
a lid that you pull open, so I thought must be the Fuel Cap, it looked like might have been on there since day one, so I ordered a genuine Motorcraft cap, installed that, still have that light coming on, flashing. What in the world ? Any help appreciated. Thank you. Final note, it states on new cap, and old one, turn until it clicks, with an arrow showing clockwise, but I don't ever hear that click until I take the cap OFF ????????
OLD POST----------, but the system also needs to have the cannister purge valve closed when it's performing that test. That's why a purge valve stuck in the open position can trigger that light. As far as the system knows, the most common source for that type of gross evap system leak would be a fuel cap someone forgot to replace after refueling. It still could be either the bad valve//solenoid or a bad fuel cap. I'd want the tech to explain to me why it's NOT the cap and why it IS the valve before I OK the replacement.
