Hopefully, this is a minor problem. I'm loosing power under load. This bus gives "network errors" using TorquePro on several of the component networks and at first wasn't giving me any codes. I downloaded Forscan and it immediately gave me a P2262. Later, I went to TorquePro again because I had the VGT gauge set up, scanned for codes and it now pulls the P2262. Nothing else.

My diagnostic software points to sensors, CAC leaks, or exhaust/intake leaks as the causes of that DTC. I'm going to inspect those components in a sec, but are there other possible causes? I thought I had a bad fuel pump the way it drove, like it was starving for gas going up hills, but I hope it's only the turbo issue. What PIDs should I be monitoring? My VGT gauge shows duty cycle up to about 50 and just hovers there, going up and down a few pounds, as I cruise down the highway. Even when the truck downshifted going up a hill and rps went up the 2500 from 2000, the VGT duty cycle stayed about the same. When I let off coming down the hill, it does decrease, I saw it in the 30s.

Does that sound like its ring is not stuck? I was thinking that VGT just stays pegged either up or down when the ring sticks.

2nd issue, while I'm here, doubt it has anything with the above. That aftermarket oil filter that someone switched into the Motorcraft box at Walmart bit me in the butt. Recall it has that plastic insert that goes in the standpipe. When I went to replace it after racking up 5k miles, the black button and spring fell off too. Looks like there's a missing prong, and I found the insert in the pan. So, I'm not sure it's been filtering oil the last 5k miles, and I found all this out as I was leaving for my next trip, and just put it back together without the button/spring and a new Motorcraft filter.

How bad am I messing this truck up? I'm in CA and will be changing the oil when I get back to Texas. Do I have to buy the entire standpipe or just that button?

edited above to reflect "VGR duty cycle" and not "boost." Not sure what my boost was - Eseries don't have that dash gauge, and I didn't have it set up on my phone app.
