Had one, never got comfortable with it and questioned it’s design, so when I upgraded to an F450, I switched to a Reese Goosebox. I’m very happy with the Goosebox. The ride is better and it’s easier to have an empty truck bed.
Does anyone have a B&W Companion Hitch RVK3300 or RVK3305 in a 2017 to 2019 long bed superduty? If so what height setting do you use on the hitch. Thank You for your help.(First time with a fifth wheel).
I personally not a fan of the Anderson, but that is just my opinion.
One point that was brought up on one of the RV forums is that you have to raise and lower the trailer a lot more Wirth the Anderson, or any of the ball type hitches.
This will take more time and can cause more wear on the trailers jacks system.
On a conventional 5th wheel hitch you only have to raise the trailer enough to take the weight off the hitch.
With the ball type you must raise till the weight is off, then another 3 to 4 inches to clear the ball.
same with loading.
Not a big deal to most people, but something to think about.
The Anderson also puts all the pin weight onto the bed of the truck.
The hitches that use the factory puck systems put all the pin weight directly to the frame, I like that a lot better, a lot of the newer trucks the pickup beds are not that thick of material. Years ago I had the B&W companion in a Ram pickup, I had to put plywood down between to hitch and the bed to disperse to load as I accelerated and stopped causeing the hitch to rock front to back, actually started to see the bed stating to dent at those points.
