I have a 2017 f350 dually and just purchase a fifth wheel toy hauler. I'm looking at getting a andersen hitch 3220. I'm wondering if anyone has a andersen 3220 hitch in there 2017 to 2019 superduty.
Been running one in my ram short bed for over 6 years, run it because it keeps me from having to fool with a sliding hitch.
They work well enough, but I'd be running a standard 5th wheel if I had a long bed, and will switch when I do buy a new Ford sometime this year.
They are light weight and plenty strong for up to a 25K GVWR trailer, but the gooseneck ball hookup isn't as stable against side to side roll as a 5th wheel is.
If you do a search on these, many report failures, especially with heavy fivers. Yes, they are light. Downside is that during hard braking or otherwise abnormal loading conditions they can fail and total your fiver.
I wouldn't run one of these hitches. There's a reason only a couple of gooseneck adapter kits won't void your RV warranty (Reese Goosebox and a couple others I think.)
I have one in my 2019 F250 ccsb lariat 6.2. Just towed 5175 miles and it worked awesome. Bought it to conserve payload. Fiver is 12,200 dry according to sticker. Getting new 350 diesel and will probably go gooseneck. Even less hassle than andersen and more space in box. Had no chucking and childs play hooking it up. Easier than a boat trailer.
I had a problem with mine. To be fair I believe the problem is more in my turning point pinbox rather than the anderson hitch design. Anderson hitch company has agreed to replace my pinbox.

Sorry to hear that. I'm really torn. You hear so many bad feelings with the hitch. My fiver will gross at 16K. I only had my 250 to tow it so saved the weight (got hitch used). Worked great but what if there are issues? Since Reese Goosebox is approved by Lippert, I will probably go that way. Everyone seems to love those and you don't lose the box.
Thank you for your point of view. The toy hauler we are getting is 42'=7" long 13'-4" high 8'-5" wide 15,860 dry weight 19,000 total weight. This is are first fifth wheel. I think I'm going to ditch the Andersen hitch.
I've had a Reese Goose Box since we bought a Jayco Pinnacle last June. Combined with my truck it is the smoothest riding, best handling combo we have ever owned and I think this is fifth wheel number 5 for us. Lining it up is not a problem with the high mounted cab camera. I can usually hit it on the first try. I did verify with Jayco before I got the Goose Box and they have no issue with it. I have read on one of the rv forums that Lippert is now saying they will not honor frame warranty claims if an Andersen hitch is used. Please don't rely on my word as that is just what I read and am simply passing it along but I would suggest researching it. I really considered an Andersen when we bought the Pinnacle but I liked the idea of storing a five pound ball and having a clean bed.

I don’t want to get into a pissing contest, but you are dead wrong sir. The Andersen will NOT avoid the warranty. Please do some real research regarding this before regurgitating it to the internet.

This is partially true. The Andersen won't void the warranty, but Lippert does not approve of that adapter. Thus, if there is frame damage, the claim will have to be handled by Andersen, not Lippert, as Lippert will deny coverage due to unapproved modifications. Your frame warranty will be void in event of a failure, but not just because of the Andersen adapter.
Basically stated, while using the Anderson, if you don't have a frame failure, all is good. If using the Andersen and do have a frame failure, there is no warranty coverage from Lippert.

I'm not going to argue over syntax, but head over to some of the RV forums and read user first accounts of them getting screwed over by using the Andersen hitch when they experienced failure.
At the end of the day, these hitches DO NOT hold up to hard use with heavy 5ers. At the end of the day, many RV's will leave you SOL for using this hardware if frame damage occurs.
Please do some real research yourself. I have no dog in this fight.
