Sawzall with a 9 inch blade and a couple clamps with the delete pipe worked for me. I noticed a definite drop in EGT's (cruising around 70 unloaded I'm around 550-600) and no noticeable increase in cabin noise. It rapps pretty good when you're up against something like a building or bridge on the passenger side though.
I'd be interested to hear first hand experience on how a muffler delete factory system compares to aftermarket 4" or 5"

My truck has been running with no muffler or back 2/3 of the exhaust for sometime. Only difference I notice is it’s louder. 4 inch pipe planning on reinstalling once painted.
I kept a muffler installed when I went with a new 4” and at 67-68mph my EGTs are about 600 just cruising. I considered straight pipe but too many folks commented about highway drone and I do use the truck for some extended driving, 6-8 hours on the interstate.
I'm not 100% sure, I seem to remember the mod knocking off a good 100C though. I still run into EGT issues while towing here and there but way, way less often than I did when I had that muffler.
On the topic of exhaust, I wish the rest of the truck was as resistant to rust as the exhaust system is. I'm sure it will still be there after the body and frame dissolve.
I have a truck with the oem exhaust and a riffraff muffler delete and another truck with a full blown mbrp 5” straight pipe. Both sound very good. Very little drone. Only difference between the two is the tone on the 5” is a little deeper. Kinda deep guttural tone.
my current project truck will be rocking a muffler delete and oem exhaust.
Interested to see what you decide. SSJ and Cowboy have said very little drone, but Brian had some. I had some drone when I tested just cutting off the OEM muffler - but probably not a fair test. The BTM is a straight though design, and works well. My installation experience below:
