Going to test drive a 2021 Limited tomorrow. Star White with the black and cream interior.
Nice! 21K for a 21L!

Next time you need a new truck, put in a roll cage, hand your kid an NHRA helmet, and toss him the keys.

The jest in this is only possible because your family made it through alive and relatively unharmed.

So you were blessed, before you became blessed again.

Unless you are driving a smaller car and are looking at hitting a big cow/horse/elk or moose. It's not pretty when you take them out at the legs and the body comes through the windshield. There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to driving effectively, but sometimes taking the ditch can be your best option. Cars are replaceable and sometimes you need to consider sacrificing the car to save yourself or others. However, I'm willing to bet you'd be hard pressed to roll an empty and stock SD just by swerving. Something else was going on here....

Food for thought. If the drive train, frame, and suspension/steering are ok, strip the body and transplant older Ford truck body. Maybe a COE?

Have to find who bought the salvaged vehicle (unless the insurance company still has it) and ask them. The poster of the original thread can tell you his insurance company.

We live about 2 hours from their closest, a town of 3k people. Same phone call we added the lien holder and got the 10 day pay off. Guess it's time to look for a new one.
As far as the boy, he's a good kid, his mom was the only other one with him, they were both ok. He swerved to miss a deer instead of just smacking it. He's been told over and over growing up and learning to drive that you never swerve, but instincts do what they do.
Not surprised it was totaled. From you pictures it looks like the the roof is compromised. When i worked in dealers and vehicle with roof damage that affected pillars was a total. Even brand new fell off the car carrier vehicles.
