I think it's pretty common to see vehicles repaired after airbag deployment. Are you implying any time the airbags go off the car is immediately totaled?
I'd imagine with all the damage this truck is done, but it really depends what the cost is to fix it vs it's value. With values sky high today I wouldn't be that surprised if they actually wanted to repair it. I'd be looking for a way out though.
I think it falls in line with that the airbags are so expensive, pushes the value to replace them way higher. That, the body panels, and all the trim and paint, I don't see how they could repair it for less than the cost of a new truck. If they don't total it, make sure they give you something for the diminished valued of such a badly crashed vehicle. I wouldn't buy a truck that had been crashed that badly, unless it was a buyback from the insurance company, and even then the price really really low.
I got a call from the insurance company finally yesterday. The pictures I posted here are the same ones I uploaded for the claim. They said they're not sending an adjuster here, they're sending a tow truck to take it to a salvage yard. They'll send someone there to get their own pictures. We live about 2 hours from their closest, a town of 3k people. Same phone call we added the lien holder and got the 10 day pay off. Guess it's time to look for a new one.
As far as the boy, he's a good kid, his mom was the only other one with him, they were both ok. He swerved to miss a deer instead of just smacking it. He's been told over and over growing up and learning to drive that you never swerve, but instincts do what they do.
My son rolled my truck Saturday, everyone in the truck was fine, nothing more than some bruising. I'm waiting on the insurance adjuster to make it over. What do you think the odds are for the truck being a total loss?
Start looking for a new truck because this one will be totaled out by your insurance company.
If your worried about a write off, you should be searching online in your area, for similar trucks that are available for sale. Then you print out these trucks sale price for future reference. Later dealing with the insurance company, you can search at that exact time frame and have two periods to compare to (Now, and when the company makes an offer). Real world sale prices of similar trucks for sale in the market. Let the insurance company make their offer, and then have some documentation to increase the value you seek. I assume that their offer will be low to start. You might even go to FORD to build a similar new truck with an MSRP price. If you have the original window sticker and sale documentation, that might be useful also.

Ranch Hand on the next one.
You don't need to swerve, plus you get free dinner for a few days for the family.
Vary glad your family is ok. Buy another, they're well built. My youngest banana'd a 2000 Ford Expedition Lariat 4wd doing the same thing. She avoided a deer, but went into a drainage culvert, leapt the driveway it was attached to, and wound up at the base of a large oak. She was fine, bags went off, but that damned deer went on to become someone else's meal. Instincts of self-preservation are super strong with us, no matter how we preach, right? A little off topic, Imagine how hard it would be to try NOT to swerve when someone is coming at you. Here in FL, and in many states, non-contact means if the offending driver doesn't contact you, no matter who, what, or how you hit something after that moment is 100% on you. If a person crosses a centerline heading right for you, if you swerve to avoid and take out another car along the way to destroying yours, it's your fault, because non-contact comes into play. Again, how hard would it be to hold your line knowing a head-on is about to be part of your story? Same thing with a deer, except Morgan and Morgan can't sue a deer.
Just an FYI, most insurance companies and states are aligned with a 75% rule. You must exceed 75% of the value of a vehicle before it's deemed a total loss. Many factors come into play for this, but I could have told you from the panels and bags alone, she's a goner. There's so much damage to the interior from bags people don't realize, from compromised dashboards and pillar panels to seat panels, headliners, and steering wheels. The salvage value is stupid high on a case like yours, so someone will pay a pretty penny for that truck. The value does drop however if that engine remains upside down for too long. Oil can do nasty things when the engine flips.
Also, if you have any aftermarket accessories on your vehicles that are NOT covered by a rider on your policies, there's a 100% chance your insurer won't reimburse you. I will never forget the day a 19 year old boy cried like he had just lost his family dog when I told him his S-10 pickup with at least $30k in customization work was only valued for the VIN, which was a completely stock base model S10--no power windows, no radio, zip, nada, zilch. I think the check he received was in the area of $7k. That truck won trophies at every show he entered based on records and photos he shared with me. An unfortunate aside to buying insurance without ever letting an agent see the vehicle in person is stuff like this, and it's found in the regular (not fine) print of a policy's exclusions. As an internet society, we have just gotten so tied up in clicking through "accept terms" tabs without stopping to make sure we are getting what we want. Don't take my word for it. If you have stuff on your vehicles, call an agent, even if it's Flo at Progressive, and get confirmation. Some companies offer coverage "up to" a small amount so they don't have to deal with the tears later, but I've never seen a policy cover over $1k of extras. The kid didn't understand why he wasn't covered, and I explained "You pay the same monthly premium as the neighbor who drives a similarly equipped VIN as yours, and he doesn't have all the custom parts. You covered a vin, not custom parts."
The Boy's Mother was riding with Him ..
He will be paying that bill for the rest of His life !!
Glad they walked away ..
Never I said Never turn the wheel for animals ..
Step on the Brakes as hard as You want don't turn the wheel !!
Lots of reasons for that remark .. End up in the wrong lane head on Your fault ..
Side swipe vehicle in parallel lane Your fault .. List goes On and On !!
Best of luck with it !!

Great info.
I remember years back at the drag strip when a kid (mid 20's) brought out his brand new Z06 and about 1/2 way down the track, the rear end grenaded and the Vette went into the wall, pretty much a total once it came to a stop. He was then informed that his insurance probably wouldn't cover it being he was racing it on a track. Then the tears really started to flow....
Insurance is doing well by us. They came back with a little over 72k, after my deductible and paying the lien holder I’ve got 21.4 to put down on something different.
Going to test drive a 2021 Limited tomorrow. Star White with the black and cream interior.
