Assuming that the frame is not bent, twisted, or otherwise compromised. Also assume that the engine and fuel system is also all good to go.
Then I see literally every single body panel would need replacing and painted ... plus all the hardware, trim, handles, etc. The roof and all of the pillars (A, B, etc.) would need to be rebuilt (and I'm not sure how that gets done). Probably the entire grille assembly is shot, since most of that is plastic clips, structures, radiator, cooling lines, etc. That probably includes the lights, bumpers, etc. All the airbags would have to be replaced, as with any of the plastics and other structures (steering wheel) that get destroyed (either by design or by accident) on their deployment. Not sure what other interior damage there is. Most of the glass would be replaced. Some of the suspension components will need to be realigned at least, if not replaced, from all the off-angle shear and force. I would expect a thorough look through the axles and driveshafts/linkages to ensure they're aligned and ready for use. Four wheels and tires, at least, maybe the hubs and supporting wheel/brake structures need to be replaced, too.
I doubt that a professional shop could do all that work for less than the book value of the truck. So, it will be a loss, in my uneducated opinion.
Also, remember that the value of the truck will likely be based on a normal value and not the silly 2021 market prices. So, a 2018 Platinum Diesel will book out for less than what you could have traded it in/sold it for two weeks ago. I've had both experiences with two totaled vehicles with the same insurance company: one I felt like I got screwed and the other I felt like I got a good buy-out. So, it's a complete crap-shoot in my limited experience. Adjusters are hypercritical of mileage.
Here in Ma. if I remember correctly the line in sand for totaling, is 70% of book.
I saw the pictures and then the thread title hit me.. is it an '18 model truck..
Or an 18 year old, that is the total loss...
On a side note, I rolled my dad's pickup in '75, a week after getting my DL.. totally my fault acting the fool, 3 people in the cab, 75 mph, no one hurt..
until I got home.
I think it's pretty common to see vehicles repaired after airbag deployment. Are you implying any time the airbags go off the car is immediately totaled?
I'd imagine with all the damage this truck is done, but it really depends what the cost is to fix it vs it's value. With values sky high today I wouldn't be that surprised if they actually wanted to repair it. I'd be looking for a way out though.
Wow !! I guess that is why We buy them .. The only battle they are sure to lose is a Choo Choo Train
and 18 Wheeler Tractor Trailer !! Glad to read everyone walked away !! Probably couldn't buy it salvage
cheap enough .. But that would make someone a nice repower project in the large truck forum !!
Get Your order form filled out so You can turn it in after the adjuster leaves !!
Best of luck with the out come !!
To fix that You can't replace panels there is nothing straight to work form ..
Buy a complete stripped cab, box, front clip and supports and brackets ..
Don't even have an idea how many hours to strip and reassemble the cab ..
Like i said above .. Get Your order form filled out !!

So now that we all agree on a total lost and everyone is ok let's get to the real question.
How it happened and if he was at fault how is he still standing? I know times are different now but I would have had my *** beat
