and the reason hunting gets worse in the hot tune is because I'm pushing higher fuel pressure? causing it to act up more? makes sense to me. Also is there any harm in driving without the icp sensor plugged in?

I have never heard of any problems cause by running with an unplugged ICP sensor, but I don't think it would be wise to do it for long/extended periods.

Wouldn't a bad ICP sensor throw codes? I don't like threads like this that don't include scandata - how did we ever fix cars before computers?

It should, but not always. I agree - scan data is a requirement.
