Good afternoon,
Well Ladies and Gentleman... My HPOP is DEAD
When i do the air test, there's air coming from the lubrication lines
I put a tiny shim between the HPOP and the J tube to close it from the HPOP, then, i applied pressure installing a hose in the tip of the J tube to the HPOP head
After 30 minutes, the hose blew away, wich meansthat my lines are NICE, still I will replace my STC o-ring
I found the cheapest on ebay: Remanufactured by Pensacola Diesel, the reviews are positive
Someone bought a 6.0 HPOP from those guys???
Simon a cheaply rebuilt Hpop looks and works the same as a quality built on. Buying from a reliable shop or buessines will get you better quality rebuild, better parts and a warranty.
Good luck with this discussion. There simply is SOMEWHAT LIMITED data (and certainly no absolute proof) either way.....
There are technical articles on the design issues that the early OEM pumps have, and several companies selling modified ones list examples of OEM design issues (DieselSite and CNCFab). A person either values that information, or considers it "propaganda" of sorts.......
There have been lots of documented issues with rebuilt HPOP's failing right out of the box, even ones purchased through the dealership. Aftermarket seems the way to go on this one, but I have no personal experience in that dept.

I agree, but some argue that the failures out of the box were due to a lack of priming the HPO system before cranking. I have a hard time with that concept, but just saying the detailed "forensic" work has not been done.
If I had an early OEM HPOP, I would replace it with one that had been "improved" by a quality/reputable aftermarket company (no surprises there for anyone I am sure).
I don't wanna pay from 850 to 1600 bucks for a performance hpop, STOCK
