Planning on towing our UTV this year with the camper. Trailer is all aluminum less than 800lbs and UTV (RAZR) is maybe 1400. I do not have experience with this type of device. I know others are running the super expensive 'super truss' that is three times as much. Thoughts on the Curt Extension for our application?
Manufacturer rates tongue weight at 600 pounds without weight distribution. If you want to know for sure, weigh the trailer and UTV on a CAT scale without your camper and you should have a pretty good idea. Seems to me it would work fine as long as you stay within rating.
If you have a 3" receiver you may also want to look at the TorkLift Cannon. It's cheaper than the supertruss and then you wouldn't have to mess around with adapters.

I think we are between 200-300 on the tongue. This should do fine. Don't see a need for a super truss that is around $550.
You didn't specify a length but that curt unit will be fine for that load. I'd just make it as short as you can get away with, they are a bit tricky with short trailers backing up.
I've used that Curt very safely and successfully. I did get a couple of anti rattle clips for it. we also had a some loops welded onto the bar and used 10,000# rated turnbuckles back to attachments on the pickup bumper for added security.

Haven't measured yet but believe the length will fall between 28-36 inches. I've been using the anti-rattle hitch devices since purchasing this truck with the 2 1/2 inch reducers. Ford didn't exactly do a great job on the newer receivers.

Same here.... and with a heavier trailer than the OP. I just used the loops that were on it and turnbuckles back to the bumper. Very secure and stable.
Below is the Reese hitch extension I have used for several years. I tow a PJ Trailer model 8312, which means it is 83 inches wide and 12 feet long. I carry a CanAm Outlander Max XT ATV (two person) along with coolers, bikes, kayaks etc..
My hitch is set at 34 inches , which at that length it extends to the edge of my bumper on my camper. I am very happy with this extension for what I use it for. I have never weighed my trailer tongue but when loaded I would be very surprised if it is over 350 lbs. I have included a photo below of my Northern Lite with my trailer hooked up to it.

Dang nice setup. The NL makes us jealous as it will definitely be our next rig. This photo is what we needed to see. Expect our towing to be similar.
Thank you and glad to try and help out. This photo was taken in Dubois, just before heading about 22 miles into the mountains with my best friend and his wife. We go up there every year at least once if not more. Beautiful part of our state for sure.
Here is another closer up photo of the hitch extension for you.
Hydraulic brake reservoir makes it a requirement to get the ball completely clear of the rear bumper. This was the initial set up for this bar. I had new loops welded on about half way up so that I could use bigger turnbuckles with chains and angled further out to the left and right.

Thanks for the closeup. Our setups are nearly identical and this is very good to see others towing as well. Dubois area sure is an amazing place including the very large 'jackalope' in that country store. We ride sleds out there near Brooks Lake lodge in the winter. I think the Wind River range and the Brecchia Cliff area right there at Dubois are prettier than the Tetons. Might see us out there sometime. Cheers!
