Clock Spring Wire Hijack
I'm looking to add shifter buttons to the rear of my steering wheel. My 2013 XLT has the column shifter, with the buttons waaaay over there.
My thoughts are that the lower 2 buttons on the right, of my steering wheel, I never use. I want to find the wires to those buttons, inside the wheel, and repurpose them to my shift buttons, with some tiny wires.
Then, find the wires that they lead to, on the other side of the clock spring to run out and snip/solder into the existing shift button wiring.
Can anyone share a wiring diagram or two to guide me?
And how does one get into the column shifter itself?
Thank you
Frank

I remember reading about someone adding paddle shifters of sort to the steering column shroud just behind the steering wheel and then running those wires from the stalk switch over to them. Was in another forum I forget which. The paddles are stationary and IIRC were from a pc game controller of some sort? Been a long time since I read about it.
Everything in these trucks is computer controlled.
